The only way to do it correctly is: 1. Use a micrometer (not a dail caliper) to measure the crankshaft snout. Lock the micrometer on the correct reading. 2. Take the damper and the micrometer to your machine shop. 3.Be extremely careful the harmonic balancer is extremely heavy and you do not want to drop it on the ground and crack it. Remember they also made 8" balancers for sbc 400 which are externally balanced. My rule of thumb is 6.75 are 350 internal and 8" factory balancers are external for 400.
